MARSHALL — It was the crazy sound coming from a Marshall firetruck that jolted children into action Thursday afternoon.
Suddenly a crowd of children of all ages circled the front of the firetruck with arms stretched up. It was the time for the candy drop.
That candy drop topped what some shoppers and retail business owners said was a successful Crazy Days in Marshall.
“It was a busy morning. And it kind of picked up in the afternoon again,” said Brad Cool, owner of Mr. Cool’s. “The weather turned out phenomenal. The forecast was 95, but it turned out gorgeous.”
The day was also successful for online businesses that set up a tent on Main Street.
“It’s been a pretty busy day. Shoppers, not just lookers,” Courtney Vroman.
Vroman and her sister, Katie Bakker own an online business called My Sisters Closet.
“We’re finally getting back to normal,” declared Marshall City Administrator Sharon Hanson. “There was more people than in the past.”
