Kwik Trip to open store in Marshall
Company buys former Speedway property
MARSHALL — The former Speedway gas station in Marshall will become a Kwik Trip location, a company representative confirmed Tuesday.
While more details on the construction timeline are not available at this time. However, the new convenience store is planned to be finished next summer, said Dean George, real estate development manager for Kwik Trip.
Speedway closed down in Marshall over a week ago. Work crews removed the gas pumps and tore down the gas station canopy and signs on June 16. Records at the Lyon County Recorder’s Office showed Kwik Trip, Inc., officially purchased the Speedway property last week. Kwik Trip also bought a neighboring property on East College drive from the Moberg Oil Co., county records said.
George said Kwik Trip plans to build a 10,000 square-foot store on the property. The size and location of the property was a good fit for Kwik Trip, he said.
Kwik Trip’s growth plans have included a push into western Minnesota, George said.
Currently, there are Kwik Trip locations in both Willmar and Worthington. George said the company has also expanded into the Sioux Falls, S.D., area.
Kwik Trip opened its first store in Wisconsin in 1965. Today, the company has stores located in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota.
