MARSHALL — A downtown parking lot will be closed starting today for paving work, the city of Marshall said.

R&G Construction will be removing the existing pavement and adding new concrete at the lot located behind the Wooden Nickel and Marshall Decorating Center.

No vehicles will be allowed to park in the parking lot until the paving is finished and the new concrete is strong enough to carry vehicles. The city said it’s anticipated that the parking lot will be open again by the end of the month, weather permitting.

On-street parking will be available on West Main, West Lyon, North Fourth and North Fifth streets, the city said. There is also a nearby off-street public parking lot at the corner of Lyon and Fourth streets.
