Kooiman to serve in dual role at Avera Granite Falls, Avera Tyler

TYLER — Tom Kooiman has been named to an expanded leadership role and will serve as the administrator of Avera Tyler and Avera Granite Falls Health Center beginning May 29.

He succeeds Allen Anderson who recently announced plans to leave Avera Tyler in June to become the CEO at St. Anthony’s Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa.

“Tom has demonstrated effective leadership in his current role with Avera. He has been instrumental in bringing Avera Granite Falls on board as a new member of Avera in January 2020,” said Debbie Streier, regional president and CEO of Avera Marshall. “We believe having one leader over both facilities can help us find additional ways to collaborate across our region and work closer together as we meet the health care needs of our communities.”

Kooiman has been in the administrator role at Avera Granite Falls since 2015.

“I’ve seen evidence of the great work done by the medical professionals, leaders and staff at Avera Tyler, and I am happy to have the opportunity to get to know the team better. I’m also looking forward to learning more about the Tyler community and meeting area residents,” Kooiman said.

“With skilled leadership teams in both Tyler and Granite Falls, this will be a tremendous opportunity to collaborate and learn from each other.”

Starting at $3.95/week.
