Time Machine announced as Sounds of Summer headliners

2022 festival to include 3 nights of performances

MARSHALL — There will be more entertainment coming to Marshall for this year’s Sounds of Summer.

On Monday, festival organizers announced that Time Machine will be the headlining act performing on the night of Aug. 20.

“We figured for Marshall’s 150th anniversary, we might as well go bigger,” said Brock Klaith of the Sounds of Summer committee.

Music and other entertainment is planned for Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the festival. Earlier this winter, organizers announced that Sweet Siren will perform Aug. 18, and the Roxbury Band will be the opening act on Aug. 20. Klaith said a performance by illusionist Jett Skrien is planned for Aug. 19.

Time Machine is a high-energy tribute band that will be making a return to Sounds of Summer, Klaith said. The band first performed around five years ago.

“People said great things,” Klaith said. Organizers have been working to get Time Machine back to Marshall since then, he said.

Time Machine is like three bands in one, Sounds of Summer organizers said. The evening will have performances of 1970s arena rock hits, ’80s pop and ’80s “hair bands.”

“They’re fun. They dress for the occasion,” Klaith said. Time Machine’s performances also tend to get the crowd moving, he said.

Klaith encouraged area residents to keep checking the Sounds of Summer Facebook page and website for further updates on this year’s festival.

“We’re definitely excited,” he said. “There are going to be a lot of events this year.”

Starting at $3.95/week.
