Businesses renew sponsorship deals for Red Baron Arena

MARSHALL — Two Marshall businesses have renewed sponsorships for the Red Baron Arena and Expo.

At last week’s Marshall City Council meeting, council members approved sponsorship renewals with both Lockwood Motors and Action Manufacturing.

Cassi Weiss, director of the Marshall Convention and Visitors Bureau, said there wasn’t a lot of change to the sponsorship agreement with Lockwood Motors, but the renewed agreement with Action Manufacturing will give the company naming rights in the facility’s main ice rink and expo area.

“There’s some minimal upgrades to signage that will need to be done, some additional dashers and then (Action Manufacturing) would get a larger in-ice logo as well,” Weiss said.

The sponsorship agreement with Action Manufacturing would continue for the next 10 years. Under the agreement, Action Manufacturing will have sponsorship rights on the video board in the Arena’s main ice rink, as well as dasher board advertising and in-ice logos in each of the facility’s two rinks.

Under the sponsorship agreement, Action Manufacturing will pay the city $12,000 a year for 10 years.

Weiss said the Lockwood Motors sponsorship agreement was “basically a renewal.”

“Not much has changed on their sponsorship from five years ago,” she said. “The only change would be the price per year, and the contract would be year-to-year with an automatic renewal.”

Under the agreement, Lockwood Motors will have sponsorship rights on the ice resurfacer at the Red Baron Arena and advertisements on the video board in the main rink. Lockwood Motors will also have dasher board advertisements in both rinks and have naming rights of the south rink.

Under the sponsorship agreement, Lockwood Motors will pay the city $10,000 a year.

“The city as well as the convention and visitors bureau certainly appreciates the support of both of these businesses. It’s important for the operation of this regional facility,” said Marshall Mayor Bob Byrnes
