Holiday Home Tour features homes in Marshall, Lynd

MARSHALL — The Lyon County Historical Society’s Holiday Home Tour is returning this weekend. The tour will showcase three local homes and the historic Redwood Lodge in Camden State Park.

The public is also encouraged to see the annual indoor Christmas Tree Walk and the Heritage Room display at the Lyon County Museum, said Executive Director Jennifer Andries. This holiday season the Heritage Room features a display of toys from the museum’s collection.

The Holiday Home Tour is a fundraiser for the Lyon County Historical Society. Tickets for the tour are $20, and are on sale at the Lyon County Museum, Hy-Vee, and Coco Avenue in Marshall. Andries said tickets can still be purchased at the museum before the tour starts on Sunday. The museum will open at 11 a.m. Sunday.

This year’s tour features homes in Marshall and Lynd. Stops include Steve Frederickson’s 1924 bungalow in Marshall, and the homes of Dawn and Charlie Deutz and Paula and Jason Klein in Lynd.

Tour participants can also visit the Redwood Lodge at Camden State Park. The historic house, built in 1935, is now available for park visitors to reserve. For the home tour, the Redwood Lodge will be decorated by Aimee Blomme, Becky Guza and Ann Carrow.

Home tour participants can visit the homes in any order between noon and 4 p.m. Sunday. However, the Redwood Lodge will only be available to tour from 2-4 p.m., Andries said.

Tour participants should enter Camden Park at the main entrance off Minnesota Highway 23. Holiday Home Tour tickets will allow participants to enter the park for free.

The museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Andries said. Cookies, bars and beverages will be available, and tour participants can see the Christmas Tree Walk and Heritage Room.

For more information on the tour, members of the public can contact Andries at 507-537-6580, or by email at director@lyoncomuseum.org.
