Fire damages Minneota house
MINNEOTA — Area emergency responders were called to a house fire in Minneota on Saturday. While firefighters from Minneota and Ghent were able to put out the fire, the damage to the home made it uninhabitable, said Minneota Police Chief Bill Bolt.
The American Red Cross was called to provide assistance to the occupants of the home, Bolt said.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
Bolt said emergency responders received the fire call around 8 p.m. Saturday for a house on East Lyon Street. The Minneota Fire Department, Ghent Fire Department, Minneota First Responders and Minneota Police all responded at the scene.
Red Cross workers were able to provide assistance to four residents of the house, said Carrie Carlson-Guest, regional communications officer for the Red Cross Minnesota and Dakotas region. After a fire or other emergency, the Red Cross can help provide for affected people’s immediate emergency needs like shelter, medical supplies or mental health support, Carlson-Guest said. The Red Cross also works with affected families to help plan their next steps forward, and connect them with service providers in their community.
