A walk with furry friends

Adults and children went for a stroll Wednesday morning during the “Big Block Walk” at the Marshall-Lyon County Library. The summer reading program this year is themed around “Tails and Tales,” so kids and families were encouraged to bring their favorite animals with them for a walk around the block, said children’s librarian Mary Beth Sinclair. A couple participants brought their dogs (above), while kids held their stuffed animals (at right). The Big Block Walk event also collected free-will donations for animal rescue organizations in Lyon County, Sinclair said. Outdoor kids’ activities will be held at MLCL every Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. through July 28.
