Two injured in Tuesday crash

HANLEY FALLS — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 23 Tuesday evening, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

A Slayton man and a Raymond man were taken to area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 6:04 p.m. at Minnesota Highway 23 and 510th Street in Hanley Falls. A 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Leighton Riley Helmuth, 18, of Raymond, was northbound on 510th Street, and a 2002 Chevy Silverado driven by William Joseph Robinson, 62, of Slayton, was southbound on Highway 23 when the vehicles collided.

Robinson was taken to Avera Marshall Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, and Helmuth was taken to Avera Granite Falls with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said.

The Upper Sioux Police, the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Department, Cottonwood Ambulance and Hanley Falls Fire Department all responded at the crash scene.
