RUSSELL -- The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is turning to the public for information about a possible hit-and-run collision in the death of a Russell man on Thursday night.
A man found unresponsive on the road in Russell was identified as Shane Alan Sanow, 50.
The Sheriff's Office received a 911 call around 11:48 p.m. Thursday about an adult male in the roadway on First Street in Russell. First responders found a man who was unresponsive and not breathing, the Sheriff's Office said.
The man was found to have suffered severe traumatic injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as Sanow, the Sheriff's Office said.
A four-wheeler ATV that reportedly belonged to Sanow was found a short distance away, off the roadway, the Sheriff's Office said. Investigators at the scene found debris consistent with a recent crash, believed to be between Sanow and a second unidentified motor vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said.
The collision could also have involved Sanow's ATV, the Sheriff's Office said. An investigation of the crash is ongoing.

The Russell Fire and First Responders, Balaton Ambulance, Minnesota State Patrol, Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension assisted in the incident and ongoing investigation.
