Fischbach to make stops in SW Minnesota

MARSHALL — U.S. Rep. Michelle Fischbach, R-Minn., will be visiting with area residents this week, making stops in Marshall and in Lincoln County over the next two days.

Fischbach’s staff said the congresswoman will be meeting with area officials, including the CEO of Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center, the president of Southwest Minnesota State University and representatives from the city of Marshall. Fischbach will also tour Ash Grove Dairy Farm near Lake Benton on Thursday, and meet with the Lyon County Board and the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce on Friday morning.

While some of the meetings and the farm tour will be closed to the public, the Lyon County Board will be calling a special meeting to talk with Fischbach.

Lyon County Administrator Loren Stomberg said a quorum of the county board will be present to meet with Fischbach, so they will be calling a special meeting at 9 a.m. Friday. Stomberg said the meeting will be open to the public, and would tentatively be held in the commissioners’ room at the Lyon County Government Center in Marshall. However, if the Lyon County District Court needs to use the room for trial purposes, the meeting will move to the lower level of the Lyon County Law Enforcement Center, Stomberg said.

Fischbach is a former Minnesota state senator, and was elected to national office in Minnesota’s Congressional District 7 in November, beating Democratic congressman Collin Peterson.

Fischbach kept up a visible profile in the area during the 2020 campaign season, making several appearances in Marshall over the course of the summer and fall.
