BUFFALO — The person killed in the shooting at Allina Health Clinic in Buffalo Tuesday was identified s 37-year-old New Ulm native Lindsay Overbay.

Overbay was the youngest daughter of Larry and Mary Wilfahrt. She was also the mother of an 8-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter.

Overbay worked at the Allina Clinic in Buffalo as a medical assistant. On Tuesday, she was one of five people shot by a gunman walking into the Buffalo Crossroads clinic. Overbay died Tuesday night after surgery at Hennepin County Medical Center. Three of the victims remain hospitalized as of Wednesday.

Thursday, Overbay’s friend Naiya Stubbe created a GoFundMe campaign called “Lindsay Strong.”

On the GoFundMe page, Stubbe described Overbay as an “a beautiful mother, daughter and friend.” Stubbe said Overbay “was the bright light in so many people’s lives, she could light up a room with her contagious laugh. Lindsay was attending college classes to further her career to making sure she could provide a better life for her two beautiful children.”

Stubbe said an important part of Overbay’s legacy was, she lived and breathed for her children. “Everything she did was for her children,” Stubbe said.

The GoFundMe page will help benefit Overbay’s family during this time and help her husband, Donnie Overbay, take care of their children. The GoFundMe campaign has already raised over $101,000.
