COVID-19 deaths reported in Lyon, area counties

MARSHALL — Two more deaths from COVID-19 were reported in the area on Tuesday.

The Minnesota Department of Health reported that a Lyon County resident in their 60s and a Yellow Medicine County resident in their 70s have died.

The death toll among Lyon County residents is now at 40, the MDH said. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lyon County has had a total of 2,971 confirmed positive cases.

Lyon County isn’t the only area county that has had COVID-19 deaths. According to MDH data, Lincoln County has had a total of two deaths since the start of the pandemic, Murray County has had seven deaths, Pipestone County has had 23 deaths, Redwood County has had 27 deaths, Yellow Medicine County has had 17 deaths, and Chippewa County has had 32 deaths.

Statewide, Minnesota had 594 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and eight deaths on Tuesday, the MDH said.
