One dead in motorcycle, pickup crash

GRANITE FALLS — A Wisconsin man was killed in a Friday crash involving a motorcyclist and a pickup truck, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The State Patrol identified the motorcyclist as Steven Thomas Weber, 56, of Hudson, Wis. Weber was pronounced dead at the crash scene from injuries he sustained in the collision.

The crash was reported at 4:01 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Yellow Medicine County Road 7 and U.S. Highway 212, west of Granite Falls. A 2012 Dodge Ram driven by James Dean Stavne, 27, of Granite Falls was westbound on County Road 7 when it collided with a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Weber. Weber was westbound on Highway 212 at the time of the crash, the State Patrol said.

Stavne and two passengers in the pickup were unhurt in the crash, while Weber was pronounced dead at the scene, the State Patrol said. Weber was not wearing a helmet, the State Patrol reported.

The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, the Granite Falls Police, the Montevideo Police and Montevideo Ambulance all responded at the crash scene.
