WABASSO — One person died in a two-vehicle crash Saturday south of Wabasso, the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office said.

While the Sheriff’s Office did not release the name of the person killed, they said the person was driving a Polaris Ranger UTV that was struck by an SUV in rural Vail Township.

The crash was reported at 12:52 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Redwood County Road 6 and 230th Street in Vail Township, the Sheriff’s Office said. A Dodge Durango struck the UTV in the intersection. The UTV overturned, killing the driver, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The driver of the Durango, Mary Heiling, 56, of Wabasso, was not injured in the crash, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The crash is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol. Wabasso Fire and Ambulance, CentraCare Ambulance, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources all responded at the crash scene.
