Schelkoph chosen as MMU general manager

MARSHALL — The Marshall Municipal Utilities Commission formally took action Tuesday to select David Schelkoph as the new MMU general manager.
Schelkoph, who will come to Marshall from Valley City, N.D., was one of two finalist candidates considered by commissioners.
“The MMU Commission did a national search working with the recruiters at Baker-Tilly. The field of candidates was narrowed down and after several rounds of interviews, David Schelkoph was selected unanimously by the Commission,” said commission chairperson Cindy Verschaetse.
“Mr. Schelkoph brings to the job a breadth of experience and knowledge that will serve the community well.”
Tuesday’s action by the MMU Commission finalizes the selection process for a new MMU manager. Current general manager Brad Roos will be retiring Aug. 21, after 17 years with MMU. MMU Commission members held a special meeting last week to discuss the two finalist candidates for the position, and opted to go into employment discussions with Schelkoph.
Shelkoph most recently served as city administrator and utility manager for Valley City, from 2012 until January 2020. Besides his work in Valley City, Schelkoph has 26 years’ experience in the electric utility field, and has an electronic engineering degree from NDSU, MMU said. Shelkoph also served in the Air Force and the Air Guard.
MMU said Schelkoph and his wife Renee will be arriving in Marshall at the end of July, and are looking forward to getting to know the community.
