South Dakota man killed in Wednesday night crash

LYON COUNTY — A crash Wednesday night at the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and Lyon County Road 10 killed one person and injured another, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The State Patrol identified a South Dakota man killed in the crash as Tony David Breske, 44, of Watertown. Breske was driving a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer westbound on County Road 10, and failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection, the State Patrol said. The Trailblazer struck the side of a semi tractor with a flatbed and water tank that was pulling a car trailer.

The crash was reported at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The driver of the tractor, Harold Hancock, 60, of Marshall, received non life-threatening injuries in the crash, the State Patrol said. Hancock was taken to Avera Marshall Medical Center.

The Cottonwood Fire Department and Ambulance, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office all responded at the scene of the crash.
