Folk/Americana musician and entertainer Dennis Warner says he has “a way of writing music that gets to the heart.”

Warner plans to play some of those type of songs “that you can relate to” when performing Saturday during the Benton-Fremont Days at the Hole-in-the-Mountain County Park in Lake Benton. His show starts at 2 p.m.

“Music has always been part of my life,” Warner told the Independent during a phone interview Thursday. His father was a semi-professional country music musician so there was music playing in the home while growing up.

“I was introduced to a lot different genres. My dad played country music, but also listened to Herman’s Hermits,” Warner said.

The Clearwater resident has been performing for three decades and has produced 10 albums, with his 11th “coming out soon.”

“Warner has established a well-deserved reputation for captivating audiences with his smooth vocals, distinguished songs, enthusiastic personality and stellar playing on both six- and 12-string guitars,” warnersongs.com said.

“I do a lot of outdoor events,” Warner said. “All my shows are family-friendly for all ages. I like to draw a lot of laughter during the shows.”

Warner at Benton-Fremont Days is just one of the several entertainment opportunities scheduled this weekend in southwest Minnesota. Belgian-American Days in Ghent runs today through Sunday and the Milroy FunFest will be held Saturday.
