Area community members joined Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center staff and the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the expansion of the hospital’s Emergency Department during an open house on Thursday. At left, Dr. Tim Hindbjorgen wielded the ceremonial scissors for the department’s ribbon-cutting. The expanded Emergency Department will be open to treat patients starting Monday morning. The addition doubles the space of the department, which sees about 7,800 emergency patients a year, said Avera Marshall President and CEO Mary Maertens.
