Rollover crash kills man

COTTONWOOD — An Alexandria man was killed in a one-vehicle crash in rural Lyon County on Friday morning, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until family is notified.

Deputies responded to a report of a rollover crash on the 2300 block of Lyon County Road 24 around 11:22 a.m. A 2011 Chevrolet Impala was traveling westbound on County Road 24, when it entered the oncoming lane and then went into the ditch on the south side of the road, Sheriff Eric Wallen said. Wallen said the vehicle traveled in the ditch for a while before overturning.

The 40-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, the Sheriff’s Office said. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The crash is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. Wallen said Friday he didn’t know if there were additional factors that might have contributed to the crash. Road conditions at the time of the crash were clear and dry.

The Cottonwood Fire Department and Ambulance, and North Memorial Ambulance, responded at the scene of the crash.
