Zimmer to be sworn in Friday

MARSHALL — The newest judge serving Lyon County District Court will be sworn in this week. Tricia Zimmer will be sworn in with a ceremony at 3 p.m. Friday at the Lyon County court, said court administrator Karen Bierman. A reception will follow.

Zimmer’s appointment as a judge in Minnesota’s Fifth Judicial District was announced by Gov. Mark Dayton earlier this summer. She will be filling the judicial position left vacant when Judge Leland Bush retired in June.

Zimmer will be co-chambered at Ivanhoe in Lincoln County, and Marshall in Lyon County. She’s no stranger to local courts — over the course of her career, Zimmer has been an attorney and consultant at Petersen Law Office, an Assistant Lyon County Attorney, and a judicial law clerk for the Fifth Judicial District.

The Fifth Judicial District covers an area of 15 counties in southwestern Minnesota, including Lincoln, Lyon, Murray and Redwood counties.
