Just passing through

This week’s winter storm didn’t just interfere with human travel plans. On Wednesday, a flock of swans could be seen resting in a field in Grandview Township in Lyon County. The birds mostly appeared to be tundra swans, said Dan Ruiter, regional information officer for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The flock was most likely passing through the area. Tundra swans typically migrate during this time of year, Ruiter said, but the recent snow and cold have likely made their trip more difficult.
