MARSHALL — A Marshall storefront has new residents, and it’s turned out to be a great location for ONE Office Solution. The office supplier moved into the former Marshall Small Engine building on Main Street this summer, and a grand opening is planned later this fall, said Steve McNally, vice-president of ONE Office Solution.

“The property was available, and it was perfect for us,” McNally said.

ONE Office Solution offers technology and equipment like Sharp copiers, office supplies and office furniture. In 2016, the business formed from a merger of Western Office Technologies, Perkins Office Solutions and Davis Typewriter. ONE Office Solution serves customers in Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa. Besides having individual locations within that four-state area, McNally said, ONE has “the expertise of a regional supplier.”

Before moving into the former Marshall Small Engine property, ONE had a location in Marshall. However, McNally said the new building allows some extra features that will be helpful for customers. To start with, there’s enough space for showroom areas, highlighting the supplier’s ranges of office furniture and copiers.

“It’s a place where people can come and touch and feel” a new office chair or machine, he said. It can be tough to choose those kinds of supplies through online orders alone, McNally said. “You have that sense of security when you can go look at it.”

“It’s worked out very well,” said Steve Meyer, ONE’s Marshall showroom manager. Customers have really appreciated having the local showroom, especially for choosing office furniture, Meyer said.

ONE Office Solution’s new location also has space for what McNally called “boutique” office supplies. ONE keeps track of about 1,500 commonly-bought office supplies, and has them available for purchase at locations like Marshall, he said. While ONE Office Solution does have a business-to-business focus, McNally said, it’s also good to be able to offer the convenience of a physical store for some supplies.

Besides offering space to showcase some of ONE’s office furniture and copiers, the location on Marshall’s Main Street was good for visibility, and being part of the community, McNally said. ONE believes in reinvesting in its local communities, he said, and keeping a local presence is important in that.

“We haven’t had that presence in Marshall for a long time,” and the company hopes its local presence will grow, he said.

“Marshall is a pretty vibrant community,” McNally said, and it will be good to stay a part of it.
