Carr Family Foundation provides gift to Prairie Home Hospice

Prairie Home Hospice acknowledges a special gift from the Carr Family Foundation. The gift supports the capital campaign to raise funds to support the establishment of a second hospice house in Marshall (McLaughlin House). The gift will be recognized as a sponsorship for two patient rooms at Lockwood House (our current hospice house).

“We are very grateful for this special gift,” said Pat Mellenthin, CEO at Prairie Home Hospice. “It brings us closer to our capital campaign goal and the reality of having a second hospice house available to meet the growing demand for residential hospice services in our community. Donations toward our new hospice house help to ensure that those who need 24 hour hospice care will have access to a cozy home environment that offers the personal care and attention they need and deserve. Each donation we receive puts us one step closer to expanding our capacity to accommodate hospice patients seeking access to our a residential hospice house.

“The donation from the Carr Family Foundation is among a number of special gift opportunities that are a part of our capital campaign,” said Mellenthin. “Opportunities for special gifts include sponsoring patient rooms at either Lockwood House or McLaughlin House. We welcome opportunities to discuss special giving opportunities with individuals, families, businesses or other groups who may have an interest. Special gifts can be given as a single, one-time gift or can be given over a period of up to five years.”

The capital campaign to support the establishment of McLaughlin House continues to go well, said Mellenthin.

“We are pleased by the generous support we have received so far,” she said. “The community has always viewed Prairie Home Hospice as a nonprofit organization of the community, for the community. The incredible support we receive from the community continues to reflect that sense of community commitment and ownership. So far, we have raised about $500,000 toward our goal of raising $780,000 for the new hospice house. We have about $280,000 left to raise, so we’re well on our way, but still have a way to go. We welcome gifts of all sizes. Large or small, every gift matters.”
