Ambulances respond to RTR school emergency

RUSSELL — Four students were taken to Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center on Thursday after a medical emergency at Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Middle School, school officials said.

Ambulances and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department responded at the middle school Thursday afternoon, after a 911 call from school district personnel.

Parents in the RTR district were notified that a medical emergency was reported at the school. In the notification, RTR Interim Superintendent Dick Orcutt said four students were transported to the hospital. However, while the medical situation was an emergency, it was not life-threatening, he said.

Orcutt said RTR district personnel and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department are continuing to investigate the incident.

Starting at $4.38/week.
