MARSHALL – The Schwan Food Co. has reached an agreement with Runnings on the sale of a Schwan office building at 901 U.S. Highway 59 North, Schwan Communication Manager Chuck Blomberg confirmed Friday.

Details are still being ironed out, but Blomberg said the sale of the office building to Runnings will be finalized by the end of October.

Blomberg said the deal is a win for both parties. He said as the company looked at its current office space in Marshall it “could comfortably accommodate all of our employees with fewer office locations.” He said all of the employees working from the 901 Highway 59 location will move to Schwan’s main headquarters at 115 W. College Drive this fall.

Dennis Jensen, director of marketing for Runnings, said the new space will be used to house all Runnings’ corporate office employees, who are currently spread out in two different buildings.

“Currently, we have corporate offices at the Michigan Road address, and we’ve got about 13 employees at another location, so we’ll use this building to office all our employees at one location,” Jensen said.

Jensen said Runnings originally planned to expand its Michigan Road location and add office space there. Those plans, he said, have been terminated with the purchase of the location on Highway 59.

Although plans are still fluid, Jensen said Runnings anticipates having the move completed in November or December of this year.
