Airstrikes hit Afghan capital of Kabul

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Pakistan has carried out airstrikes in Kabul and two other Afghan provinces, Afghanistan’s government spokesman says. They came hours after Afghanistan launched a cross-border attack on Pakistan in the latest escalation of violence between the volatile neighbors. The clashes are making a Qatar-mediated ceasefire appear increasingly shaky. There was no immediate information on the exact location of the explosions in the Afghan capital in the early hours of Friday, or on any potential casualties. Afghanistan’s military launched a cross-border attack on Pakistan on Thursday night, claiming to have captured more than a dozen Pakistani army posts in the latest escalation of violence between the volatile neighbors.
