Feds: Men made plans to take over island
DALLAS (AP) — Federal prosecutors say two Texas men were making plans to take over a Haitian island, kill all of the men and then use the women and children for sex. Twenty-one-year-old Gavin Rivers Weisenburg and 20-year-old Tanner Christopher Thomas, who are from the Dallas area, were indicted Thursday on charges of conspiracy to murder, maim or kidnap in a foreign country and production of child pornography. An attorney for Weisenburg said he encourages everyone to “tap the breaks” and reserve judgment, while an attorney for Thomas said the two men “never tried to do any of this.”
