US resumes military aid and intelligence sharing
JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — The Trump administration said Tuesday that it would immediately lift its suspension of military aid to Ukraine and its intelligence sharing with Kyiv. The announcement came a week after the measures were imposed to push Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to enter talks to end the war with invading Russian forces. The administration statement emerged at talks between Ukraine and the United States in Saudi Arabia. Ukraine also said it was open to a 30-day cease-fire in the war with Russia, subject to Kremlin agreement.
16 are dead and dozens are hurt after a bus flips on a highway in South Africa
JOHANNESBURG (AP) — A bus lost control and flipped on a highway early Tuesday near Johannesburg’s international airport, killing 16 as some were thrown from the vehicle. A spokesman with South Africa’s transport ministry says reports indicate that 11 passengers are critically injured and 24 have moderate to serious injuries. No other vehicle was involved in the crash, and officials are not yet able to determine the cause. South Africa’s transport minister says she is “extremely concerned” since this was the third serious bus accident in the past week.
Philippine ex-leader Duterte is being flown to The Hague to face charges
MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Philippine officials say arrested former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has left Manila on a plane and he will be turned over to the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Duterte was arrested after arriving with his family from Hong Kong at the Manila international airport Tuesday morning on a warrant from the ICC. The global court ordered his arrest after accusing him of crimes against humanity over a deadly anti-drug crackdown that he oversaw while in office. The 79-year-old former president turned briefly to a small group of aides and supporters who wept as they bid him goodbye before he was helped by an escort up the stairs into the plane.
FBI joins search for US college student who vanished in Dominican Republic
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) — Police in the Dominican Republic say the FBI has joined the search for a 20-year-old University of Pittsburgh student who went missing nearly a week ago while on spring break. Police said Tuesday they are re-interviewing people who were with Sudiksha Konanki before she vanished in the predawn hours of March 6 at a beach in front of a hotel in the tourist town of Punta Cana. The hotel said her disappearance coincided with a power outage that prompted multiple guests to head to the beach. Dominican President Luis Abinader told reporters that he lamented the situation.
