Runnings announces plans to build new store in Madison, SD

Runnings has announced the company has purchased 9 acres of land from the Lake Area Improvement Corporation, which will be used to build a new retail store. Construction on the new 68,000-square-foot-store, to be located in the Lakeview Industrial Park, is scheduled to begin this fall with completion set for the summer of 2021.

“Having an additional retail establishment will be beneficial to Madison’s growing population, workforce, and educational system,” said Marshall Dennert, Madison mayor. “The location along Highway 34 will be ideal for what they have to offer.”

In January, Runnings reached an agreement to purchase Campbell’s Supply Co., a 66-year-old general merchandise retailer with seven stores across South Dakota and Iowa. Last month, Runnings announced intentions to build a new 74,000-square-foot store in Vermillion, South Dakota.
