SMSU Agronomy Field Day

The seventh annual SMSU Agronomy Field Day is scheduled for Friday, July 18, from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the SMSU Agronomy Field Trials Farm site adjacent to the Jon Knochenmus Center for Innovation, located on the north edge of Marshall. (2927 265th Avenue, Marshall)

The day will include lunch, tours, and presentations highlighting SMSU field-trial research, as well as other related programs and projects.

The schedule includes:

Welcome, Dr. Raphael Onyeaghala, dean of the College of Business, Education, and Professional Studies

SMSU Demonstration Plots and Field-Trial Site Management, Dr. Adam Alford, SMSU agronomy associate professor

Development of Novel Edible Soy Products, Dr. Soma Mukherjee, SMSU culinology assistant professor

Impact of Adjuvants and Oil-Based Tank Mix Partners with Enlist One, Liberty and Cobra on Weed Control and Crop Safety, Jenna Whitmore, field research manager, and Andrew Lueck, Next Gen Ag researcher and consultant

Humanization of Pet Food, Ben Swanson, AURI food scientist

From Projects to Practice: Developing Models to Evaluate Field Scale Events, Kyle Moss, Ralco student intern

Plot tours will follow the presentations

The formal program begins at 11 a.m., but guests are welcome to arrive earlier. The formal program will conclude by 1:30 p.m. After the formal program, there will be time to take a short walk out to the field plots and view first-hand the progress of SMSU’s research efforts.
