Business Briefs for April 8

Avera Marshall, Big Stone Therapies expand partnership

Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center and Big Stone Therapies, Inc. announced that Avera Marshall has purchased the Big Stone Therapies clinic at the Market Street Mall in Marshall. Plans call for the current professional services agreement with Big Stone Therapies at the hospital-based location to continue. Beginning April 1, this agreement expanded to include the clinic location at Market Street Mall in Marshall. Under this agreement, Avera Marshall is responsible for business operations and contracts with Big Stone Therapies to provide professional staff and administrative services.

This change is only taking place in Marshall. Big Stone Therapies locations in other communities will not be impacted.

Big Stone Therapies and Avera Marshall have partnered around providing physical, occupational and speech therapy services in Marshall since 2009.

“Through our collaboration over the last nearly 10 years, we’ve been able to enhance and expand care for people in our region,” said Wade VanDover, PT, CEO, Big Stone Therapies. “We’ve deepened our clinical expertise in specialized areas like pediatric therapy, orthopedic rehabilitation, sports medicine, concussion management and home health care.”

“Coming together even more will allow us to address changing market factors and focus our energies on growing a combined service that will benefit the people we serve,” said Mary Maertens, regional president and CEO, Avera Marshall.

“The same skilled staff will continue offering the expert care patients have come to expect. Any upcoming appointments will remain as scheduled,” Maertens said.
