Annual Mustang Success Night set for today

The Deeann Griebel Student Success Center at SMSU is hosting their annual Mustang Success Night on from 7-9 p.m. today in the SMSU Conference Center. The program features a support services fair and a major exploration fair to help students learn about the many services available to help them succeed and find their academic path at SMSU. The keynote presentation will be presented by Jacob Fahl, SMSU Class of 2003. Former SMSU men’s basketball standout, Fahl graduated with a degree in management in 2003. GOLD College kick-off event set for Sept. 10 at SMSU

The fall kick-off session for GOLD College will be in the Conference Center Upper Level at SMSU on Wednesday, Sept. 10 starting at 1:30 p.m., with registration and social time. The program begins at 2:30 p.m. featuring keynote speaker Joyce Tofte speaking about the Mustang Market, SMSU’s food pantry. Tofte is the Violence Prevention and Education coordinator in the University Public Safety office at SMSU in addition to her work with the Mustang Market. SMSU earns 2025-2026 Military Friendly School GOLD designation

Southwest Minnesota State University announced that it has earned the 2025-2026 Military Friendly School GOLD and 2025-2026 Military Spouse Friendly School designations in the Small Public university category. Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2025-2026 survey, with 830 earning special awards for going service above the standard.
