Fine Arts Celebration runs March 28-May 5 at SMSU

The 17th annual SMSU Fine Arts Celebration returns March 28 through May 5. The celebration features creative works from the Fine Arts and Communication department and the Creative Writing program.

“We are really excited about our schedule of events this year,” said Dr. John Ginocchio, chair of the Fine Arts and Communication department, director of Bands at SMSU and the event coordinator. “The variety really showcases our fine arts programs at SMSU.”

This year’s celebration provides programming from vocal and instrumental ensembles, exhibits, panel discussions, main stage theatre, readings, recitals, and more.

“There’s a wide variety of events planned throughout the duration of the celebration,” said Ginocchio. “Most of the events are free of charge, also, and we invite the public to participate.”

The schedule of events includes:

Guest artist discussion with Tom “Bones” Malone, March 28, at noon-1 p.m. in the SMSU Fine Arts Theatre

SMSU Jazz Ensemble with guest artist, Tom “Bones” Malone, March 28, at 7:30-9 p.m. in the SMSU Fine Arts Theatre

“The Enchanted Bookshop” public performances in the SMSU Fine Arts Theatre, April 1, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., April 2, at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Forensics Showcase, SMSU Whipple Gallery, April 6, at 7 p.m.

SMSU Student Recital, April 5, at 1-2 p.m. in the FA Theatre

13th annual Fashion Runway, April 10, at 6:30-8 p.m. in the FA Theatre Lobby

Inside and Out: Fashioning the Cinderella Dresses, April 11 at noon-1 p.m. in the SMSU William Whipple Gallery; April 11 at 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Marshall Lyon County Library
