Weber awarded Outstanding Student Affairs Administrator

Minnesota West Community & Technical College announced that Dean of Student Services Rebecca Weber has been selected as the 2020 recipient of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities ASA Outstanding Student Affairs Administrator Award.

The Academic and Student Affairs Division of Minnesota State works with system institutions to identify and meet shared priorities so they can better serve their students and communities. These awards are for administrators at the director, dean or vice-president levels who have made significant contributions to the development of academic or student affairs programming at their institutions.

The award nomination for Dean Weber was in four specific areas: Creativity or innovation in meeting the emerging needs of students, Commitment to professional development of faculty and/or staff, Demonstrated leadership in college/university and community affairs and High level of administrative ability, demonstrated by effective responses to institutional challenges.

Dean Weber’s colleagues noted the following in her nomination, “Student success is always at the forefront of Rebecca’s leadership. The rich and varied life experiences of our students and workforce require that the institution and student services continually pivot and evolve. Rebecca rarely accepts the status quo and energizes her staff and the institution to evaluate and advance to meet student needs.” And “Rebecca’s resolute dedication to the health, well-being, and success of students and colleagues is infectious. Her approachable, sincere and positive leadership style empowers others making her an extraordinary mentor for the people who work with/for her.”
