McPherson receives foreign service association merit scholarship

Maite McPherson will graduate from Colegio Maya — The American International School of Guatemala. She has been selected as a winner in the 2020 American Foreign Service Association Merit Awards Competition. She was awarded an Academic Merit Scholarship in the amount of $3,500 which is renewable annually.

She is the daughter of Nikki Enersen and Marlon McPherson of Guatemala and Dr. Paul and Dixie Enersen of Marshall.

The annual Merit Awards Ceremony and Reception will be from 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, Aug. 20, at the State Department’s George Marshall Center in Washington D.C.

She will also be formally announced as a winner in the July/August AFSAís magazine Foreign Service Journal and listed on the June 15 AFSA website at www.afsa.org/scholar.

McPherson plans to attend Duke University this fall majoring in political science, history and bio chemistry.
