Screening of Luis Argueta documentary ‘The U Turn: A Transformational Journey’ Oct. 2

Southwest Minnesota State University will host a screening of the Luis Argueta documentary film “The U Turn: A Transformational Journey” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in the Conference Center, lower level.

There will be a question-and-answer session with Argueta after the screening.

Argueta is a film director and producer who has been telling transnational immigrant stories since 1977. He has worked as a commercial director, lecturer and teacher in the United States, Europe and throughout the Americas. Two of Argueta’s most notable awards have come in the last four years. He is the only filmmaker to be awarded Guatemala’s Orden del Quetzal in the degree of Grand Officer, the highest honor given in Guatemala (2015). He was also the recipient of the 2019 Harris Wofford Global Citizen Award from the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA).

The event is free and open to the public.

The screening is sponsored by Access Opportunity Success (AOS), Office of Diversity and Inclusion, International Student Services, International Student Organization (ISO), the History Club, Club Latino, and the History Program.
