Avera Marshall Auxiliary Awards Scholarships

The Avera Marshall Auxiliary has awarded three $1,000 scholarships to area high school students. Criteria for selection included academic excellence, participation in school activities, active community involvement and a demonstrated interest in the health care profession.

Kavan Naughton, a Marshall High School graduate, plans to attend the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse, Wis., to become a physical therapist or physician’s assistant. Naughton has job shadowed at Big Stone Therapies where he followed both a physical therapy assistant and a physical therapist.

Landon Abraham, a graduate of Minneota High School, plans to attend South Dakota State University, Brookings, S.D., to study biology with an interest in pursuing a career in medical research. He has participated in Scrubs Camp at Avera Marshall Hospital for three years.

Karley Polejewski is a graduate of Marshall High School. She plans to attend Minnesota State University-Moorhead, Moorhead. She will pursue a degree in speech/language/hearing sciences to become a speech/language pathologist. Polejewski has been employed at Boulder Estates and also as a personal care assistant with Golden Home Care Plus.

McCosh among those selected for the James W. Tracy Scholarship

The Minnesota FFA Foundation announced the names of the 18 Minnesota high school seniors who will receive the James W. Tracy scholarship. The scholarship is available to Minnesota high school seniors enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited post-secondary school and pursuing a degree in agriculture. The scholarship is scored on leadership, involvement, agriculture interest and financial need.

Scholarship recipients include Anna McCosh of Granite Falls.
