CDA meeting Monday

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas will be having their meeting on Monday in Carlin Hall following the 5:30 p.m. Mass. There are items to discuss and a drawing for free dues.

GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays seminar scheduled

GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays is a helpful, nondenominational, encouraging seminar for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death. The seminar will be 2-3:30 p.m. Nov. 14, in Holy Redeemer Church gathering area, 503 W. Lyon Street, Marshall.

The seminar features practical suggestions and reassurance through video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and other people who have experienced the holidays after their loved one’s death. Topics to be discussed include dealing with hard-hitting emotions, what to do about traditions, how to survive social events, and where to find comfort and strength.

Those who attend may purchase a $5 Survival Guide filled with practical tips, encouraging words, journaling ideas, and exercises for daily help through the holiday season.

Orthodox patriarch hospitalized after stent procedure

NEW YORK (AP) — The spiritual leader of Eastern Orthodox Christians was staying overnight in a New York City hospital after having a stent placement Wednesday afternoon at the conclusion of his U.S. visit, according to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, 81, of Constantinople underwent the procedure at Mount Sinai Hospital following an angiogram that determined the need for the stent, according to the archdiocese.
