No June meeting for Catholic Daughters

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas will not meet June 8. New officers for 2020-2021 have been installed.

Orlando church donates $500,000 to nonprofits hit by COVID

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Orlando’s First Presbyterian Church has made a donation of over $500,000 to Central Florida’s nonprofits to help ease some of the economic devastation caused by the coronavirus.

The church pooled money from virtual collection plates, and used leftover funds from a capital campaign, bequests and an annual missions drive, Senior Pastor David Swanson said.

Indonesia cancels hajj pilgrimage due to coronavirus

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Indonesia’s government has decided not to participate in this year’s hajj pilgrimage because of the coronavirus outbreak, an official said Tuesday.

Indonesian Religious Affair Minister Fachrul Razi said Saudi Arabia has not announced it will open the July hajj pilgrimage to other countries, and it is too late to prepare if it does so now.

“The government will not send the 2020 hajj pilgrimage,” Razi said.
