Sex education legislation is topic at Jan. 30 presentation at Living Word

Julie Quist of the Child Protection League will give a presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at Living Word Lutheran Church, 800 Southview Court, Marshall. Quist will discuss the Comprehensive Sex Education legislation (HF1414) that the Minnesota House majority passed April 23, 2019, as part of the education omnibus bill. The legislation is still pending in the Minnesota Senate (SF2065). The legislation would require Minnesota schools to teach medically-accurate, age-appropriate, comprehensive sex education. The event is free and there will be a time of prayer following the presentation. For questions, call Layle French at 507-532-3616 after 6 p.m.

Notre Dame renovation chief says rebuild won’t be rushed

PARIS (AP) — The French army general in charge of rebuilding fire-ravaged Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris says renovation work will begin in earnest later this year.

Gen. Jean-Louis Georgelin told a French parliament commission Wednesday that workers are still securing the structure. Concerns persist that Notre Dame’s vaulted ceilings could collapse.

“Even if we are rather confident and even if all the indicators seem positive, it is still too early to affirm that the cathedral is saved,” he said.

Starting at $3.95/week.
