MILROY — Emily Mortier and Elijah Welu announce their engagement. Parents of the couple are Mike and Mary Mortier of Marshall and John and Theresa Welu of Milroy. Both are 2014 graduates of Marshall High School. Mortier is a 2017 graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and minor in special education; she is currently a substitute in local schools. Welu is a 2017 graduate of South Dakota State University with a bachelor of science in agricultural science and minors in agronomy and animal science; he works for his family farm and construction company. The couple is planning an April 7, 2018, wedding at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. After their wedding trip to Texas, the couple will live near Milroy.
