The Dow leaps to a record as oil prices ease and US stocks outside of AI rally

NEW YORK (AP) — Wall Street rallied Thursday after falling oil prices and yields in the bond market eased the pressure on U.S. stocks. Banks, small companies and other stocks that had earlier been left behind by the euphoria around artificial-intelligence technology led the way. The S&P 500 rose 0.4% for its 10th gain in the last 11 days, a day after dropping from its all-time high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average soared 874 points, or 1.7%, to a record, and the Nasdaq composite slipped 0.1%. Price quotes for Garvin Park updates rejected

MARSHALL — Lyon County Commissioners formally rejected price quotes for a new shower building and camper cabins at Garvin Park this week. Lyon County Environmental Administrator Roger Schroeder said the quotes came in well above an engineer’s estimate and over the amount of grant funding the county had available for the project. Lyon County Administrator Loren Stomberg brought the item before county commissioners at their Tuesday meeting. “Unfortunately, this came well outside of our range,” Stomberg said. Lynd school board chair charged with DWI

Lynd Public School Board Chair Suzie Rauch has been convicted of a third-degree DWI and has been placed on supervised probation for two years, according to Lyon County court records. Rauch was charged with two gross misdemeanors and one misdemeanor on April 26 in Marshall by the Marshall Police Department. The two gross misdemeanor charges were for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 within two hours.
