MARSHALL — Emma Beavers of the Marshall swim team signed her letter of intent to compete with the Northern State Wolves in the fall on Wednesday morning.

“It’s refreshing [to be committed to college] because I think I’ve been starting this for a while. I started the process back in August, so it’s good to know,” Beavers said.

During her high school career, Beavers spent time competing with both Marshall High School and Redwood Valley. She totaled six years of varsity experience.

Beavers served as Marshall’s primary–and during her senior year, only–breaststroker.

“The highlight was probably meeting everyone because I came into this team not knowing anybody, and I met Alex Larson, who’s now one of my best friends ever, and it’s really nice to have a community here too,” Beavers said.

Northern State University swim and dive has started its season 8-7 this year, including 6-6 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.

The program’s 2023-24 season schedule is yet to be announced.
