AMATEUR BASEBALL: In command

Bouwman strikes out 20, Marshall gets past Granite Falls 3-0 in season opener

GRANITE FALLS — Both the Marshall and Granite Falls amateur baseball teams looked to get their seasons started in strong fashion on Friday. Thanks to a one-hit, 20-strikeout complete game performance by Mitchell Bowman, Marshall was able to earn a 3-0 victory at Richter Field.

The A’s scored first to grab an early lead and would follow it up with a two-run single by Mason Schnaible and that is all they would need as Marshall won 3-0.

Zach Olsen for the A’s led the team with two hits in the ballgame. For the Kilowatts, they never could get the bats going and costly errors gave the A’s the lead for good. Hunter Wilkes for the Kilowatts, managed to get their only hit for the game. The Kilowatts had more errors (3) than hits (1) and also left seven runners on base.

Marshall (1-0) will face Raymond at home on Sunday while Granite Falls (0-1) will face Wabasso on the road on May 27.
