BURNSVILLE — The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced on Wednesday morning Southwest Minnesota State University junior wrestler Caden Steffen has been named All-NSIC first team as selected by the league’s 10 head coaches.

It’s the first time Steffen has earned All-NSIC accolades in his career.

A native of Zumbrota, Steffen is 16-1 this season and 8-0 in NSIC duals competing at 184 pounds. He has recorded three pins, two tech falls, three major decisions, and eight decisions, including two wins in sudden victory. His only loss this season has been by medical forfeit, and is ranked fourth nationally.

Steffen, a 2021 NCAA All-American following a fifth-place finish in the region tournament, has 27 career victories.

Steffen is a 2018 graduate of Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School.

Southwest Minnesota State resumes action on Saturday competing at the NCAA Super Region V Tournament in Moorhead. The top three finishers at each weight class will earn a trip to the NCAA Championships in March.
