AREA HOCKEY: Marshall 12U girls earn trio of victories
MARSHALL — The Marshall 12U girls had a weekend to remember Jan. 14-16. The 14-girl team as well as their coaches were invited to participate in a special practice last Friday evening hosted by Minnesota Hockey at the Tria Rink downtown St. Paul. The practice was run by one of Minnesota Hockey’s top coaches, Erik Anderson. The fun continued Saturday as the girls were able to have two games with teams from around the state. The Marshall 12U were victorious in both games.
On Sunday the team traveled down to Mankato’s Blakeslee Stadium, this year’s home of Hockey Day Minnesota. The girls were able to have a scrimmage against Mankato Black on the outdoor rink. They were given commemorative jerseys and socks to wear for the event. Marshall came out with a 3-2 win.
The Marshall 12U girls are on a 17-game winning streak. They have won two tournaments this year and are ranked in the top 10 in the state. The 12U girls are coached by Mike Foley, Chris Foley and Barb Anderson.
