PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Lakeview football gets past RTR, 28-13

COTTONWOOD – Lakeview defeated Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 28-13 on Friday.

It was the first game for the Lakers on their new turf field. Lakeview held a pregame ceremony to retire the No. 70 jersey in honor of 2020 graduate Parker Viaene, who died in an ATV accident on April 10.

Lakeview (2-0) will travel to MACCRAY on Sept. 17 while RTR (1-1) wil host Canby on Sept. 17.

Minneota 43, YME 6

GRANITE FALLS – Minneota defeated Yellow Medicine East 43-6 on Friday.

Isaac Pohlen threw for 117 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Vikings offensive attack. Zack Fier added 79 yards and a touchdown on the ground, while AJ Josephson rushed for 54 yards and two touchdowns.

Max Rust added a punt return touchdown for the Vikings in the third quarter.

Minneota (2-0) will host Lac qui Parle Valley on Sept. 17 while YME (0-2) will travel to Dawson-Boyd on Sept. 17.

MCC 42, Wabasso 16

SLAYTON – Murray County Central earned a 42-16 win over Wabasso on Friday.

Rebels quarterback Abe Paulzine only competed three passes for 86 yards in the win, but two of them were for touchdowns to go along with 49 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Carter Benda added 214 yards of total offense (155 rushing, 59 receiving) and caught a touchdown pass.

MCC (2-0) will travel to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Sept. 17 while Wabasso (0-2) will host Springfield on Sept. 17.

DB 34, Canby 0

CANBY – Dawson-Boyd defeated Canby 34-0 on Friday.

DB (2-0) will host Yellow Medicine East on Sept. 17 while Canby (1-1) will travel to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Sept. 17.

TMB 41, A/E 0

ADRIAN – Tracy-Milroy-Balaton earned a 41-0 win over Adrian/Ellsworth on Friday.

WWG 48, GHEC/T 20

TRUMAN – Westbrook-Walnut Grove defeated Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman 48-20.

Thursday prep volleyball

Lakeview 3, KMS 2

KERKHOVEN — The Lakeview volleyball team defeated Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 3-2 (25-23, 18-25, 14-25, 25-23, 18-16) on Thursday.

Olivia Hinz led Lakeview with 11 kills while Bradlyn Gniffke added 10 and Erin Meyer had five. Grace Rausch led in digs with seven while Gniffke and Meyer each recorded six and Rausch led in set assists with 27.

Lakeview (1-2) will compete in the Montevideo tournament today.

WABASSO — The Wabasso volleyball team fell to Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s 3-0 (25-8, 25-9, 26-24) on Thursday.

Avery Carlson led Wabasso with six kills while Kelsey Frank and Kelsey Fischer each added five. Natasha Doubler led in digs with eight while Audrey Johnson added seven and Carlson led in set assists with eight while Frank recorded six.

Wabasso (0-2) will face Springfield on the road next Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
