PREP BOYS TRACK AND FIELD: Marshall’s Eli Salisbury qualifies for state meet

WACONIA — The Marshall boys track and field team competed in the Section 2AA meet on Friday, taking 15th with a team score of 27.5 points. Chanhassen took first with a team score of 74, followed by Mankato East in second (68.5) and Mankato West in third (61.75).

One individual qualified for the state meet for Marshall, as Eli Salisbury took first place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:00.14.

In the 100 meters, Chidi Nwakama took 15th with a time of 11.79 seconds while Isaac Correa took 39th in the 200 meters with a time of 25.80 seconds. In the 400 meters, Daniel Olin took 31st with a time of 57.05 seconds while Keaton Runia took 36th with a time of 58.10 seconds. In the 800 meters, Ashton Schnaser took 20th with a time of 2:13.94 and Jordan Duscher took 39th with a time of 2:53.00. In the 1600 meters, Owen Holmberg took third with a time of 4:37.09 while Sam Deutz took 30th with a time of 5:00.25 and Aidan Rosenboom took 45th with a time of 5:39.47. In the 3200 meters, Deutz took 19th with a time of 10:50.07.

In the 110 meter hurdles, DeMario Gaines took sixth with a time of 16.29 seconds while he took sixth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.40 seconds and Ayden Doherty took 38th with a time of 53.31 seconds. In the 4×100 meter relay, the team of Doherty, Brandon Simpson, Martin Krenz and Runia took 15th with a time of 52.27 seconds while the team of Doherty, Simpson, Krenz and Runia took 13th in the 4×200 meter relay with a time of 1:45.86. In the 4×400 meter relay, the team of Bryant Paulsen, Landon Wherry, Nwakama and Salisbury took seventh with a time of 3:37.58 while the team of Chase Werner, Hudson Dieken, Rosenboom and Austin Dunn took 15th in the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 10:05.

In the high jump, Gaines took fifth with a height of 5-10 while Kongmeng Vue took 17th in the long jump with a leap of 19-00.75 and Andrew Elton took 22nd with a leap of 18-08.25 and Jaden Deines took 34th with a leap of 17-07. In the triple jump, Elton took 11th with a leap of 39-09 while Vue took 17th with a leap of 38-06.50 and Deines took 25th with a leap of 36-02.75. In the shot put, Eduardo Garcia took 19th with a throw of 40-01.50 while Gabe Sherman took 26th with a throw of 38-00.50 and Adam Meyer took 32nd with a throw of 36-07.75. In discus, Sherman took 22nd with a throw of 110-11 while Evan Schotzko took 42nd with a throw of 99-02 and Meyer took 46th with a throw of 97-02 to round out their score.

Girls

The girls 3200 meter run was also held on Friday. Anna DeGroot took 17th with a time of 12:54.90.

Up next

Marshall will compete in the Class AA meet next Saturday at St. Michael-Albertville, with the boys starting at 10 a.m. and the girls starting at 3:30 p.m.
